Writing Prompt

Generate at least eight questions about your topic in preparation for completing the writing task:

While LGBTQ+ people have been living in the United States from the very beginning, the fight for social acceptance and equal protection under the law is ongoing. In this task, you will research a significant event in LGBTQ+ history and create an informational poster about this topic. 

Your poster must:

  • Include a short, 1–2 sentence-long description/definition of the topic
  • Include important dates, people, and facts
  • Explain the causes of this event
  • Explain the impact of this event
  • Include visual elements
  • Include a quote from a primary source
  • Include a statistic or other important number related to this event
  • Include information from at least two sources
