Kambili keeps a hidden photograph of Papa Nnukwu and Jaja hides away a stalk of purple hibiscus in the freezer. What do these thoughts and actions reveal about the ways in which Kambili and Jaja were changed by their time in Nsukka?

In the final stanza of the poem, the speaker says, “It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll, I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul.” How does this excerpt from the poem pertain to Jaja and Kambili’s actions in this chapter?
