  1. Solve one-step word problems involving addition & subtraction.
  2. Represent problem visually with tape diagrams & identify models that represent problem.
  3. Represent problem with a related equation.
  4. Solve equation using addition & subtraction strategies. 

Tips for Teachers

To help students understand word problems, using the 3 reads routine and acting out or modeling the problems could be used as an access point. Read more about word problems here.
