Bring Your Fishtank Learning Curriculum to Life With Kiddom

Kiddom Team

Hello, Fishtank Learning Community! The Kiddom team is absolutely thrilled to partner with Fishtank Learning to bring a flexible digital format to the quality curriculum you know and love.

About Kiddom

Who is Kiddom, you might be wondering? Kiddom is a platform for teaching and learning, online, and in person. By connecting curriculum, instruction, and assessment in one place with communication tools, we enable teachers and learners to unlock their full potential.

Some things you can do with Kiddom:

  • Access, share, collaborate, build, and manage your curriculum. You can even contextualize it, for instance, if you'd like to make last-minute adjustments for a class that was switched to distance learning.
  • Create various engaging activities and lessons from your curriculum planner. We make personalization easy by allowing you to assign activities to select students according to skill mastery.
  • Trace the connection between how standards appear in the curriculum, in classroom instruction, and in student work, so that you can focus on specific areas of improvement.
  • Provide feedback to students in various ways, including chat or video, or directly on assignments, making it easy to give private in-person feedback, or keep the discourse going at a distance.

Why This Partnership is So Exciting

Two words: quality & flexibility. As you know, Fishtank Learning is well-esteemed for its high-quality curriculum that is both flexible and standards-aligned. The Kiddom platform enables these same qualities in the digital format, so this truly feels like a match made in heaven.

We always like to share this before and after picture a teacher posted on Twitter about Kiddom:

With the Kiddom Education Platform, teachers, admins, and students using the Fishtank Learning 3-8 math curriculum will have their curriculum and assignments stored in a place where they can easily access it from anywhere.

This flexibility has been so helpful for our schools during the pandemic, especially for those who have had to make last-minute switches to virtual learning. Because Kiddom allows teachers to contextualize the curriculum, they are able to jump in and quickly adjust instruction, for example, in-person group work for individual or work-with-a-parent activities. Our platform also allows breakout rooms for those who want to keep the group discussions going.

Quality curriculum is so incredibly important to our students' learning. We believe that teachers and students shouldn't have to suffer any content loss when the environment switches, and that's where the combined flexibility of Fishtank Learning curriculum and Kiddom come to play.

Our Shared Philosophies

Beyond sharing the features of quality and flexibility, there are four important philosophies Kiddom and Fishtank Learning share. These philosophies are familiar to those of you who know and love Fishtank curriculum, but here you'll see how we can support each one in the way we've designed our platform.

The first shared philosophy is around discussion and exploration. Fishtank’s emphasis on student-centered discussion and exploration is supported by Kiddom’s communication tools. Students and teachers can use chat, groups, and a variety of media (audio, video) to facilitate discussion.

The next one is around practice and feedback. Fishtank’s curriculum provides opportunities for student practice in every lesson. Kiddom's platform provides digital question types that allow for automatic grading, which assists teachers in providing feedback on a timely basis.

The third shared philosophy is around flexibility and collaboration. Fishtank’s curriculum offers teachers a balance of flexibility and support so they can confidently teach the content. Kiddom's platform allows teachers to edit the curriculum—alone or with their colleagues—to best support the unique needs of their students.

And the final philosophy we share is around alignment and personalization. Fishtank's curriculum is thoughtfully sequenced around Common Core Standards. Each unit and lesson is clearly linked to grade-level and foundational standards. Kiddom's extensive supplemental content library allows teachers to pull in additional vetted content for remediation or enrichment, as needed, further curating the learning experience for students.
