2nd Grade Math

In this Common Core-aligned course, 2nd graders develop an understanding of and fluency with addition and subtraction, place value within 1,000, measurement with both standard and metric units, and properties of two-dimensional shapes.

3rd Grade Math

In this Common Core-aligned course, third graders develop an understanding of and fluency with multiplication and division within 100, fractions, area, and properties of two-dimensional shapes.

4th Grade Math

In this Common Core-aligned course, students develop an understanding of multi-digit multiplication and division; fraction equivalence and operations with fractions; and classification and analysis of geometric figures and their angles.

5th Grade Math

In this Common Core-aligned course, students continue to explore operations with fractions; develop understanding of operations containing whole numbers and decimals to hundredths; and familiarize themselves with volume.

6th Grade Math

Students learn key concepts in their progression towards middle school algebra, including ratios and rates, rational numbers, algebraic expressions and equations, area and volume, and statistics.

2nd Grade - Metric Measurement

Students develop the foundational skills of measuring length by exploring metric measurement and develop the understanding of number lines and measurement data with line plots.

4th Grade - Fraction Equivalence and Ordering

Students are exposed to factors and multiples, then develop general methods and strategies to recognize and generate equivalent fractions, as well as learn to compare fractions with different numerators and different denominators.

6th Grade - Rational Numbers

Students are introduced to integers and rational numbers, extending the number line to include negative values, understanding the order of rational numbers, and interpreting them in context.

5th Grade - Multiplication and Division of Fractions

Students deepen their understanding of fraction multiplication and begin to explore to fraction division (and fractions as division), as well as apply this new understanding to the context of line plots.

4th Grade - Fraction Operations

Students start to operate on fractions, learning how to add fractions with like denominators and multiply a whole number by any fraction.

4th Grade - Decimal Fractions

Students expand their concept of what a “number” is as they are introduced to an entirely new category of number, decimals, which they learn to convert, compare, and add in simple cases.

3rd Grade - Fractions

Students understand fractions as numbers on the number line and explore fraction equivalence and comparison in simple cases, then apply this fractional understanding to measure fractional lengths and represent them on a number line plot.

2nd Grade - Customary Measurement, Shapes, and Telling Time

Students extend their measurement understanding to work with customary units, reason with shapes and their attributes, partition shapes into equal shares and describe them, and extend knowledge of time by reading and representing time to the nearest five minutes.

5th Grade - Patterns and the Coordinate Plane

Students are introduced to the coordinate plane and use it to represent the location of objects in space, as well as to represent patterns and real-world situations.

6th Grade Math - Unit 4: Rational Numbers - Lesson 1

Extend the number line to include negative numbers. Define integers.

4th Grade Math - Unit 6: Decimal Fractions - Lesson 1

Represent decimals to tenths less than or equal to one with area models. Write a decimal value in fraction, decimal, and unit form.

4th Grade Math - Unit 5: Fraction Operations - Lesson 1

Decompose fractions as a sum of unit fractions and as a multiple of a unit fraction.

3rd Grade Math - Unit 6: Fractions - Lesson 1

Partition a whole into equal parts using area models, identifying fractional units.

3rd Grade Math - Unit 6: Fractions - Lesson 2

Partition a whole into equal parts using tape diagrams (i.e., fraction strips), identifying and writing unit fractions in fraction notation.

4th Grade Math - Unit 6: Decimal Fractions - Lesson 2

Represent decimals to tenths greater than one with pictorial base ten blocks. Write a decimal value in fraction, decimal, unit, and fraction and decimal expanded form.
