  • Did all farm workers initially support the strikes? Explain why or why not. 
  • On p. 50 the author states that “the union members surprised everyone with their determination and inventiveness.” What evidence does the author include to support this point? 
  • What does it mean if something backfires? Why were the tactics of the growers backfiring? 
  • The farm workers brought in scabs, or strike breakers, to try and end the strike. How did this influence both the strikers and the farm workers?
