6th Grade Math

Students learn key concepts in their progression towards middle school algebra, including ratios and rates, rational numbers, algebraic expressions and equations, area and volume, and statistics.

7th Grade Math

In this course students develop their skills in proportional reasoning, rational number computation, expressions and equations, geometry, and statistics and probability.

8th Grade Math

Students make several advances in their algebraic reasoning as they solve systems of linear equations, use functions to describe relationships, and analyze two- and three-dimensional figures.

Algebra 1

Students explore linear, quadratic, and exponential functions, and develop a deep understanding of the features of each function—graphically and algebraically—as they create models and analyze situations.

Geometry

Students further their understanding of geometric relationships and learn to make formal mathematical arguments about geometric situations, with a heavy emphasis on transformations and proofs.

Algebra 2

Students develop their conceptual understanding, fluency, and ability to apply advanced functions, draw connections between function types, and build functions that model contextual situations.

9th Grade - Descriptive Statistics

Students analyze contextual situations, focusing on single variable data and bivariate data, and are introduced to the concept of using data to make predictions and judgments about a situation.

7th Grade - Statistics

Students investigate how to use sampling to make inferences about larger populations of interest, engaging in hands-on activities to select random samples and to compare samples of different sizes.

11th Grade - Probability and Statistical Inference

Students use probability to make better decisions based on knowledge than on intuition alone, and use the normal distribution to understand outcomes of random processes repeated over time.

6th Grade - Statistics

Students get their first experience of statistics in this unit, defining a statistical question and investigating the key concepts of measures of center and measures of variability.

7th Grade Math - Unit 7: Statistics - Lesson 4

Analyze data sets using measures of center and measures of variability.

Algebra 1 - Unit 2: Descriptive Statistics - Lesson 4

Describe the shape of the data in box plots and histograms. Choose an appropriate measure of center (or an appropriate shape) based on the shape and the relationship between the mean and the median.

Algebra 1 - Unit 2: Descriptive Statistics - Lesson 5

Calculate and interpret the spread (variance) of a data set.

Algebra 1 - Unit 2: Descriptive Statistics - Lesson 6

Calculate the standard deviation and compare two symmetrical distributions based on the mean and standard deviation.

7th Grade Math - Unit 7: Statistics - Lesson 7

Compare different populations by analyzing visual data distributions.

Algebra 1 - Unit 2: Descriptive Statistics - Lesson 7

Interpret the standard deviation and interquartile range.

Algebra 1 - Unit 2: Descriptive Statistics - Lesson 8

Calculate population percentages using the standard deviation.

7th Grade Math - Unit 7: Statistics - Lesson 8

Compare populations by analyzing numerical data.

7th Grade Math - Unit 7: Statistics - Lesson 9

Identify meaningful differences between populations using the mean and mean absolute deviation (MAD) of samples.

Algebra 1 - Unit 2: Descriptive Statistics - Lesson 9

Given summary statistics, describe the best measures of center and spread. Describe reasoning.
