8th Grade Math

Students make several advances in their algebraic reasoning as they solve systems of linear equations, use functions to describe relationships, and analyze two- and three-dimensional figures.

Algebra 1

Students explore linear, quadratic, and exponential functions, and develop a deep understanding of the features of each function—graphically and algebraically—as they create models and analyze situations.

Algebra 2

Students develop their conceptual understanding, fluency, and ability to apply advanced functions, draw connections between function types, and build functions that model contextual situations.

11th Grade - Linear Functions and Applications

Students review and extend the Algebra 1 skills of graphing, manipulating, and describing solutions in order to deepen their understanding of modeling situations using linear functions.

8th Grade - Solving One-Variable Equations

Students hone their skills of solving multi-step equations and inequalities, redefining their definition of "solution" to include cases such as infinite solutions, and interpreting solutions in context.

11th Grade - Quadratics

Students build on their knowledge of the features, forms, and representations of quadratic functions, and extend their understanding from solutions in the real number system to the complex number system.

9th Grade - Linear Expressions & Single-Variable Equations/Inequalities

Students become proficient at manipulating and solving single-variable linear equations and inequalities, and using them to model and interpret contextual situations.

9th Grade - Linear Equations, Inequalities and Systems

Students manipulate, graph, and model with two-variable linear equations and inequalities, are introduced to inverse functions, and continue studying linear systems of equations and inequalities.

11th Grade - Exponential Modeling and Logarithms

Students revisit exponential functions, including geometric sequences and series, and learn to manipulate logarithmic expressions and equations to solve problems involving exponential modeling.

9th Grade - Quadratic Functions and Solutions

Students investigate and understand the features that are unique to quadratic functions, and they learn to factor quadratic equations in order to reveal the roots of the equation.

9th Grade - Quadratic Equations and Applications

Students continue their study of quadratic equations, learning new strategies to determine the vertex and roots of quadratic equations and applying these in various real-world contexts.

Algebra 1 - Unit 8: Quadratic Equations and Applications - Lesson 3

Complete the square to identify the vertex and solve for the roots of a quadratic function.

Algebra 2 - Unit 2: Quadratics - Lesson 5

Solve quadratic equations written in vertex form and describe graphical features from vertex form.

Algebra 2 - Unit 2: Quadratics - Lesson 6

Complete the square to convert an equation written in standard form to an equation written in vertex form.

Algebra 1 - Unit 4: Linear Equations, Inequalities and Systems - Lesson 6

Describe the solutions and features of a linear inequality. Graph linear inequalities.

Algebra 1 - Unit 8: Quadratic Equations and Applications - Lesson 7

Determine the number of real roots of a quadratic function using the discriminant of the quadratic formula.

Algebra 2 - Unit 2: Quadratics - Lesson 7

Identify solutions that are non-real from a graph and an equation using the discriminant. Define imaginary and complex numbers.

Algebra 1 - Unit 3: Linear Expressions & Single-Variable Equations/Inequalities - Lesson 10

Solve unbounded single-variable inequalities in contextual and non-contextual situations.

8th Grade Math - Unit 2: Solving One-Variable Equations - Lesson 11

Solve and graph inequalities with variables on one side of the inequality (optional).
