Fishtank Math Propel Workshop

Join a cohort of 3rd–8th grade educators from across the country as you deepen your knowledge and teaching practice with Fishtank Math curriculum. 

You’ll work directly with the creators of the Fishtank Math program to explore strategies for supporting productive struggle, centering student voices, supporting all learners, monitoring student progress, and more!

The workshop contains six sessions delivered virtually via Zoom over two half days. Registration is $500 per participant with a 10% discount available for any school sending 4+ participants.

Session Descriptions

Understanding & Preparing for Productive Struggle

Explore what productive struggle is, why it is important, and how to support it in your classroom to maximize student learning and help students build the stamina to grapple with progressively more complex tasks. 

Centering Student Voices

Learn how to equip students with the skills to drive the discussion in your Fishtank lessons, enabling more engaging exchanges and deeper student learning. 

Supporting All Learners 

Explore ways to differentiate your lessons and units to meet the needs of all learners, including how to use the Supporting English Learners and Special Populations Teacher Tools.

Integrating Math Vocabulary

Explore vocabulary routines and protocols that can be used to help students, including multilingual learners, build their comprehension of mathematical vocabulary.

Monitoring Student Progress 

Explore the different opportunities within a unit to monitor student progress through the various formative assessment resources, as well as how to use assessment data to inform instruction. 

Building Number Sense with Fluency Activities 

Learn how to use the Fishtank Math fluency activity tool to build number sense and infuse joy in your classroom.

Who should attend the Fishtank Math Propel Workshop?

This workshop is designed for 3rd–8th grade educators working with the Fishtank ELA curriculum. The workshop will be most useful for teachers who have completed the Fishtank Math Launch series and are already using Fishtank Math in their classrooms.

Do I need to be a Fishtank Plus subscriber to participate in this workshop?

Yes, the Propel workshop focuses on leveraging the content and tools of Fishtank Plus and we highly recommend upgrading your account before participating.

Who is leading the Fishtank Math Propel Workshop?

This workshop is facilitated by our math curriculum and PL specialists, including Faith McDuffie, Jami Therrien Wells, and Sarah Britton. You can learn more about them in the agenda for this workshop.

Will there be any pre-work for this workshop?

There will be a pre-work assignment to complete prior to the start of the workshop. You will receive more information via email in the weeks prior to the workshop.

Can I receive PD credits for this workshop?

You will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the 2-day workshop that you can submit for credits within your school system.
