Accessibility at Fishtank Learning
Fishtank Learning is committed to making our curriculum and website usable by every teacher, student, and family, including people who use assistive technology. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, and we test our site against that standard.
What you can expect
- Keyboard access. You can reach every link, button, and form on our site with a keyboard. A “Skip to main content” link appears first on every page, and in-page links move your focus to the section you chose.
- Screen reader support. Pages use headings, landmarks, and labeled form fields so screen readers can describe and navigate them.
- Readable text. Text meets WCAG color contrast requirements, and pages adapt to zoom and small screens without scrolling sideways.
- Accessible downloads. Most lesson and unit PDFs are tagged for screen readers, with headings, lists, tables, and a document language.
Where we’re still working
We know some parts of the site don’t yet meet our goal, and we’re working through them:
- Some lesson and unit content has images without text descriptions, tables without header labels, or text presented as an image.
- Some links in curriculum and blog content use vague text such as “here.”
- Some videos are missing captions, and some professional learning videos include classroom footage or on-screen text that isn’t described.
- Some combined PDFs, such as math lessons with worksheets attached, aren’t tagged for screen readers yet.
We review our content and fix issues on a rolling basis.
