Discussion & Writing Prompt

Look at the red oak, dogwood, and sassafras leaves. Pick one type of leaf and describe what it looks like.

Key Questions


  • What are some ways that leaves are the same? What are some ways that leaves are different?

  • What do you notice about smoke tree leaves? Use two to three words to describe the leaves.

  • What do you notice about ginkgo leaves? Use two to three words to describe the leaves.

  • What do you notice about sweet gum leaves? How are they different from the linden leaves on page 20? How are they the same?
