2nd Grade Math

In this Common Core-aligned course, 2nd graders develop an understanding of and fluency with addition and subtraction, place value within 1,000, measurement with both standard and metric units, and properties of two-dimensional shapes.

3rd Grade Math

In this Common Core-aligned course, third graders develop an understanding of and fluency with multiplication and division within 100, fractions, area, and properties of two-dimensional shapes.

4th Grade Math

In this Common Core-aligned course, students develop an understanding of multi-digit multiplication and division; fraction equivalence and operations with fractions; and classification and analysis of geometric figures and their angles.

5th Grade Math

In this Common Core-aligned course, students continue to explore operations with fractions; develop understanding of operations containing whole numbers and decimals to hundredths; and familiarize themselves with volume.

4th Grade - Place Value, Rounding, Addition, and Subtraction

Students learn to compare numbers, round to any place, work towards fluency with the standard algorithms for adding and subtracting, and solve multi-step word problems involving addition and subtraction.

2nd Grade - Addition and Subtraction Within 20

Students extend their knowledge of addition and subtraction within 20 to fluently add and subtract within 20 using various strategies. This work is put into practice as students solve add to, take from, and put together/take apart word problem types using tape diagrams and equations to represent what is happening mathematically.

3rd Grade - Rounding, Addition, and Subtraction

Students estimate quantities using rounding and develop fluency with the standard algorithm of addition and subtraction. Students focus on the precision of their calculations, and use them to solve real-world problems.

3rd Grade - Multiplication and Division, Part 1

Students begin to explore the concepts of multiplication and division, beginning in the context of equal group and array problems, moving to skip-counting and repeated addition, and ending with more complex and/or abstract problems.

2nd Grade - Adding and Subtracting Within 100

Students develop strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and the operational relationship between addition and subtraction to add and subtract within 100 fluently. Students will use these strategies to add up to four two-digit numbers and explain why these strategies work. Students also explore categorical data.

4th Grade - Multi-Digit Multiplication

Students are introduced to multi-digit multiplication and its applications, including multiplicative comparison.

5th Grade - Multiplication and Division of Whole Numbers

Students continue their work with multi-digit multiplication and division and the base-ten system in order to finalize fluency with multi-digit multiplication and extend division to two-digit divisors.

2nd Grade - Metric Measurement

Students develop the foundational skills of measuring length by exploring metric measurement and develop the understanding of number lines and measurement data with line plots.

3rd Grade - Multiplication and Division, Part 2

Students deepen their understanding of multiplication and division, including their properties and extending their study of factors to include all units from 0 to 10, as well as multiples of 10 within 100.

4th Grade - Multi-Digit Division

Students explore multi-digit division and its applications, which include interpreting a remainder in division word problems and using division to interpret a repeating pattern.

2nd Grade - Place Value with Numbers to 1,000 & Money

Students extend their place value knowledge to 1,000 and use this knowledge to represent and compare three-digit numbers. Students are also introduced to money, identifying coins and their value, and determining the value of coin collections.

3rd Grade - Area

Students develop an understanding of areas as how much two-dimensional space a figure takes up, and relate it to their work with multiplication from Units 2 and 3.

3rd Grade - Shapes and Their Perimeter

Students explore attributes of shapes in different categories, then learn to measure at least one of these attributes, their perimeter. They come to differentiate between perimeter and area as different measurements.

5th Grade - Multiplication and Division of Fractions

Students deepen their understanding of fraction multiplication and begin to explore to fraction division (and fractions as division), as well as apply this new understanding to the context of line plots.

2nd Grade - Adding and Subtracting Within 1,000

Students add and subtract within 1,000 using strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and the operational relationship between addition and subtraction in order to add and subtract within 1,000. Students will use these strategies to add up to two 3-digit numbers concretely, pictorially and abstractly and explain why these strategies work.

5th Grade Math - Unit 2: Multiplication and Division of Whole Numbers - Lesson 1

Evaluate numerical expressions involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and grouping symbols.
