It’s been a while since our last post, and we’ve missed connecting with you! Our team has been hard at work behind the scenes to make your Fishtank experience even stronger. As we begin a new school year, we’re excited to share the latest updates and resources designed to save you time, strengthen instruction, and support every student in reaching their full potential.
From new tools to enhanced curriculum, everything we’ve built has been shaped by your feedback and our commitment to removing barriers so all students can access rigorous, grade-level content.
New Tool to Support Learning
Fishtank Student Platform for ELA (grades 6–12)
Designed specifically for Fishtank ELA (starting with grades 6-12 this fall), the new Student Platform makes it easier than ever to manage assignments, give feedback, and support student learning — all in one place.
With the Student Platform, teachers can:
- Collect and review student work digitally
- Edit, schedule, and assign Fishtank assessments, exit tickets, target tasks, and homework
- Provide timely, personalized feedback and return assignments online
- Use accessibility features like built-in text-to-speech and translation support to ensure all students can engage with grade-level content
- Monitor student learning and engagement to better tailor instruction

Curriculum Enhancements Driven by Your Feedback
ELA Updates That Make an Impact
We’ve made our most comprehensive ELA updates. They are grounded in research, shaped by educator feedback, and designed to strengthen student engagement and outcomes across all grade levels.
Highlights include:
- Major writing instruction overhaul for K–5 using the research-based SRSD model, with more explicit writing process instruction, stronger scaffolds, added mentor texts, and improved rubrics
- New 11th & 12th Grade ELA courses with compelling real-world themes that help students see themselves as change agents in their communities and beyond
- Expanded language lessons for K–5 aligned with year-long grammar and language progressions, plus optional practice extensions
- Updated recommended unit sequences in grades 1–4 to better support pacing and instructional days
- Targeted enhancements to reading lessons K–2 with added vocabulary and genre-based supports
- Text list updates across multiple grades, adding culturally relevant titles and removing out-of-print books
- Improved Teacher Tools library with additional topics and easier navigation
- Middle and high school enhancements including more intentional vocabulary spiraling, close reading guidance, exit tickets, and improved digital text access through Fishtank Plus

Math Updates to Strengthen Instruction
We're thrilled to announce our new 1st Grade Math course, a key step in our effort to offer a full K-8 Math program. We’ve also expanded and enhanced our 7th and 8th grade courses to include more guidance for teachers and even more high-quality tasks that help students connect math to their daily lives. We plan to bring these same updates to our 3rd-6th grade math courses in the coming years.
Highlights include:
- New 1st Grade Math course (3 units now, 5 more releasing this fall)
- Culturally responsive enhancements in middle school math that reflect diverse perspectives and real-world applications
- Expanded facilitation guidance to help teachers lead lessons with clarity and confidence
- Built-in spiral review opportunities to reinforce key concepts throughout the year
- Continued focus on conceptual understanding, problem-solving, and mathematical communication across all grade levels

Teacher Tools, Updated for Easier Planning
We’ve made it faster and simpler to find what you need in our Teacher Tools library and added even more great content to support your planning and instruction.
Highlights include:
- Expanded library with additional topics and resources to make lesson planning easier
- Easier navigation so you can quickly locate what you need
- Improved digital text access for smoother lesson prep

Family Engagement Resources
Strong partnerships between home and school are vital to student learning. We’ve expanded our Family Letters and Guides so families can feel confident supporting their students’ learning at home.
Highlights include:
- New Family Letters for ELA featuring unit overviews, sample problems, and at-home reinforcement ideas
- Continued access to Math Family Guides (grades 3–8) that connect classroom and home learning
- Resources written in family-friendly language to be accessible and inclusive
