You also want to track their progress on assigned work while providing them feedback to further develop their writing and comprehension skills.

Expanding and Strengthening the Fishtank Student Platform for 2026-27
Currently, Fishtank Student includes the ELA lessons, assignments, and assessments for grades 6-12. However, for the 2026-27 school year, we’re adding grades 3-5. That means educators and students will more easily be able to engage with and benefit from our high-quality curriculum designed to help your students develop into critical readers, writers, and thinkers.
Beyond including grades 3-5 ELA, all classrooms using Fishtank Student for the 2026–27 school year will have access to these updated tools.
-
Live assignments: Through the teacher’s assignment page, teachers can see when students are actively working on an assignment. In addition, student responses are saved automatically, so teachers can monitor work in progress. Using this real-time visibility into how students are engaging with an assignment, teachers can provide instant feedback that will appear on the student’s page.
-
Expanded writing functionality: The upgraded student interface will include enhanced writing and formatting tools. Students will be able to draft, revise, and format their work without needing to switch programs. Moreover, the experience will be similar to writing in familiar programs, like Google Docs, while keeping the data sharing and teacher feedback elements.
-
Canvas integration: Schools and districts that use Canvas can now integrate Fishtank Student with their LMS. Not only will students be able to see and complete their assignments in Canvas, but grades and teacher feedback will automatically sync back to Canvas as well, requiring less data entry for teachers.
-
Quill integrations: Our new partnership and integration with Quill.org will allow 6th–8th-grade students to access interactive writing practice directly within the platform. This creates more opportunities for targeted skill development without needing to leave the platform and helps students independently revise and improve their writing.
-
Performance analysis: Teachers and admins will be able to export assessment results as a spreadsheet for more detailed data analysis. This new functionality will make it simple to track performance across standards, units, or even classrooms.
