Objective


Multiply a single-digit whole number by a decimal in cases that involve basic facts. Estimate the product of a single-digit whole number with a decimal by rounding numbers to their largest place.

Criteria for Success


  1. Multiply a single-digit whole number by 1 tenth or 1 hundredth. 
  2. Multiply a single-digit whole number by single-digit multiples of 1 tenth or 1 hundredth.
  3. Explain why the product of a whole number and 1 tenth or 1 hundredth is one tenth or one hundredth as much, respectively (MP.3).
  4. Estimate the product of a single-digit whole number and a decimal by rounding the decimal to its largest place.
