5th Grade Math

In this Common Core-aligned course, students continue to explore operations with fractions; develop understanding of operations containing whole numbers and decimals to hundredths; and familiarize themselves with volume.

6th Grade Math

Students learn key concepts in their progression towards middle school algebra, including ratios and rates, rational numbers, algebraic expressions and equations, area and volume, and statistics.

7th Grade Math

In this course students develop their skills in proportional reasoning, rational number computation, expressions and equations, geometry, and statistics and probability.

Geometry

Students further their understanding of geometric relationships and learn to make formal mathematical arguments about geometric situations, with a heavy emphasis on transformations and proofs.

5th Grade - Shapes and Volume

Students explore the volume of three-dimensional shapes, connecting it to the operations of multiplication and addition, as well as classify two-dimensional shapes hierarchically.

7th Grade - Geometry

Students apply algebraic and proportional reasoning skills to investigate angle relationships, circle measurements, uniqueness of triangles, and solid figure application problems.

10th Grade - Three-Dimensional Measurement and Application

Students extend their understanding of circles, volume, and surface area into modeling situations, formula analysis, and deeper conceptual understandings.

5th Grade - Patterns and the Coordinate Plane

Students are introduced to the coordinate plane and use it to represent the location of objects in space, as well as to represent patterns and real-world situations.

5th Grade Math - Unit 3: Shapes and Volume - Lesson 11

Classify shapes as polygons versus non-polygons and classify polygons according to their number of sides.

5th Grade Math - Unit 3: Shapes and Volume - Lesson 12

Classify quadrilaterals based on the presence or absence of one pair of parallel sides. Define trapezoids as quadrilaterals with at least one pair of parallel sides.

5th Grade Math - Unit 3: Shapes and Volume - Lesson 13

Classify trapezoids based on the presence of one or two sets of parallel sides. Define parallelograms as trapezoids with two sets of parallel sides.

5th Grade Math - Unit 3: Shapes and Volume - Lesson 14

Classify parallelograms based on the presence or absence of right angles or based on the presence or absence of sides of equal length. Define rectangles as parallelograms with four right angles and rhombuses as parallelograms with four equal sides.

5th Grade Math - Unit 3: Shapes and Volume - Lesson 15

Classify rectangles based on the presence or absence of sides of equal length, and classify rhombuses based on the presence or absence of right angles. Define squares as quadrilaterals with sides of equal length and all right angles.

5th Grade Math - Unit 3: Shapes and Volume - Lesson 16

Classify triangles based on side and angle measures.
