  • Suspense is created by: Fast-paced dialogue, symbolism of the hands/dagger, voices Macbeth hears
  • Macbeth/Montag’s hands both indicate guilt, and although they can be physically washed, they cannot be mentally washed. This can lead to a good discussion on whether we can truly be absolved from our sins.
