Common Core Standards

Core Standards

  • 2.NBT.A.3 — Read and write numbers to 1000 using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form.

Foundational Standards

  • 1.NBT.B.2

Criteria for Success

  1. Understand the format for representing three-digit numbers in word form.
  2. Convert a number in a given form (standard form, unit form, non-standard unit form) to word form.
  3. Convert a number from word form to standard form.

Tips for Teachers

It may be helpful to have a visual with spellings of two-digit numbers available for students. Students in 2nd grade may still be working on spelling and a visual may help focus the effort on the concepts rather than the mechanics.
